Healthcare Needs Real Competition
The healthcare system in the United States is wasteful, problematic, and crushingly costly. There is no deficiency of proposed arrangements, yet fundamental to the best of them is the possibility that health services need more challenge. In different areas, rivalry improves quality and productivity, spikes advancement, and drives down expenses. Health services ought to be no exemption. However, suppliers and payers keep on attempting to frustrate rivalry. Many are effectively seeking after solidification, purchasing up a piece of the overall industry, and expanding their bartering power. This article intends to focus on the fact that medical services payers and suppliers must quit battling the rise of competition in the healthcare provision system and make contending on value integral to their methodology (Dafny & Lee, 2016). All partners in the medical services industry - controllers, suppliers, safety net providers, managers, and patients themselves- - have tasks to carry out in creating genuine rivalry and positive change. Specifically, five impetuses will quicken progress: Put patients at the focal point of care, make a decision, quit compensating volume, institutionalize value-based techniques for implementation, and make information on results straightforward. This paper is written in my point of view as the administrator of the healthcare organization in my area.
Mission and vision statement
Our mission in healthcare is to provide an efficient, reliable, and affordable system of healthcare for the best services to our patients and provide the best working environment for healthcare providers in this organization. Our vision is to achieve a competitive system in healthcare provision and create a transformative platform for positive change for patients and employees. Our goal is to develop an efficient workforce and provide satisfactory services to our clients.
Specific strategic goals that align with the ideals in the vision and mission statements above
Embracing models that add value
Healthcare providers should be encouraged to embrace models that are beneficial to both the organization and the clients (Hillary et al., 2016). It is risky as the models have imperfections, but that can be solved if the providers liaise with other healthcare providers to work on improving the value of such models and eradicate the imperfections so that the patients can have confidence in using them.
Putting patients first
Healthcare providers should put the welfare of the patients at the top of their priority list. Making it easier for patients to access care faster is ideal in fostering the relationship between healthcare providers in a specific institution and their patients. Having to wait in a long queue of booked appointments is unfair for people who have a dire need for constant medical care. Having a team that finds ways to address the needs of patients can be of great value to both the organization and the patients as well as the service providers.
Creating choices
For change to exist in the health care service provision, leaders at each level should be able to make genuine decisions: customers when picking medical coverage items, patients while picking clinicians, and clinicians while choosing the offices where their patients get care. At the point when decisions exist, clear champs and washouts develop, making tenacious weight on all suppliers to improve. They will strive to become better providers contributing to the strategic growth of the organization due to the choices made by the leaders to inspire change and improvement. Competition is the main tool for fostering improvement. Improvement is created through the right choices made by the team leaders, patients when choosing different services and medical providers when choosing the right places to attend to their patients.
Adaptive strategy to ensure the organization meets its goals
Financial
The specific needs of the patients to ensure the best healthcare provision may incur a lot of costs. Therefore, for the organization to keep running and maintain stability, the organization comes up with strategic ways to keep running. This is done through charging the patient's bills on their insurance, varying degrees of payment for those patients that don't use cards, and hold fundraising events to help boost the financial position of the organization and keep it operational. Recruiting a higher number of patients; who have medical insurance can greatly help by boosting the finances of the organization. The mission and vision of the organization, which involves providing the best care for patients, call for the above ways of improving the company's financial status. From charity fundraisers to charges on insurance, the organization keeps afloat as the healthcare providers keep perform their obligation to patients efficiently, day after day. This adaptive strategy will be essential to the organization in achieving its goals as most services offered to require money for equipment as well as specialized personnel. An example of this is the American cancer society, which is a charity that raises funds to support cancer screening and treatment (Silver et al., 2015). The funds are used to obtain equipment as well as hiring specialized doctors and surgeons to carry out such treatments. Another example is the community health charities that raise funds towards health improvement and reforms of the community as a whole.
Three (3) service delivery and three (3) support components that will be necessary elements of the organization’s value chain geared toward achieving the identified strategic goals
Service delivery components
The elements of service delivery include the quality and culture of the service provided, engagement of the employees with the customers, and the experience of the customer in the service providing system. In this case, experience in a health care organization. These elements are essential because they all involve the relationship between the service provider and the patient. In this case could be physician and patient (Ginter et al., 2018). It lays its focus on how the services get delivered to the patients and the general interaction between patients and healthcare officers in the course of the treatment.
Support components
Due to the various challenges in healthcare in terms of quality and cost of treatment, the united states has a strong healthcare system with support from the government, which spends more per capita on healthcare than any other country does. Medicine and research in the United States are considered to be the best in the world. However, that fact has not helped much in reducing the number of health cases every day. Another system of support component for the organization is the funds from donations and fundraising in charity galas.
Reasons why service delivery and support components are essential to the achievement of the organization's goals
Service delivery is essential because the manner in which a patient is treated in terms of communication and treatment determines whether he will recommend it to someone else. An aspect of friendliness and proper communication is what makes a patient like the experience and even forget, for a minute about their condition. It is in the ability of a health provider to comfort the patient and give him hope no matter the circumstances. A kind expression to a patient and quick response to emergencies is what motivates a patient making their stay in hospital accommodating. This is attained by promoting the reviews of the organization, thus contributing to its development and achievement of the set goals.
The support components are essential in helping the organization gain some financial stability to be able to provide basic medical services to the patients. It also helps in developments like acquiring the latest technology to be used for treatment, expanding the organization in terms of branches across the country. In this way, they are able to reach a wide variety of people, thus making a difference to society. The support system can also help fund free legal clinics that provide free medical testing and screening, especially for those citizens who do not have medical insurance and cannot afford the hospital costs. The support system is essential in helping the organization in its goal of providing efficient and affordable healthcare to all. Additionally, the support system helps in such a way that it provides room for the study of rare diseases by exploring advanced technological equipment in the studies of the species. The support system plays a significant role in the health care institution.
The specific approach to maintaining the selected adaptive strategy or strategies in order to ensure that the organization achieves its mission and vision
The adaptive strategy is essential for the organization to be able to achieve its mission and vision. The adaptive strategy in this case is financial that involves finding ways to maintain the flow of finances to help patients dealing with traumatic experiences. An example is of soldiers who just came back from captivity by terrorists. The haunting memories of the events before the rescue thus contribute to the constant occurrence of disturbing reactions caused by PTSD. The adaptive strategy i.e., financial strategy, provides funding for the needs of those who need it. the funds are spent on trying to help people from war get the best physical as well as psychiatric treatment and an opportunity to get back on their feet. It involves a step by step mind training program to ensure that the patient is well prepared to get back. The training is thorough because when out in the field fighting war and terrorism, the lives of the people are in one's hands. So proper and genuine recommendations should get made in terms of whether the candidate should be put back on the team and allowed to go to war again. For example, in a phase where the patient gets startled by the sound of bullet fire means they are not ready to fight in a war as the other lives would be endangered as well.
Conclusion
The healthcare system is an essential organization for the services provided by the healthcare officers to the quality of services offered. The organization of the company is in such a way that proper communication and service provision is maintained through ideals like conducting follow up procedures after a patient has been discharged to monitor their progress. The positive development of the organization in terms of quality of services plays a huge role in improving the number of people flooding the hospital to get a piece of the best healthcare services. The best service delivery can help in an increase in donors due to the traffic in support system when people witness first hand, the manner in which the organization has helped other parties in dealing with traumatic situations. Experiences by people who have been part of the war is a motivation for those who lost or having their loved ones while on duty fighting for the safety of the country. Promoting competition among different healthcare sectors helps improve the quality of healthcare as everyone would be struggling to outdo the other.
