Thesis Statement:
Although I partially agree with the Facebook that the facial recognition tool is for its user’s benefit, but I disagree with Facebook’s view that it is not taking any private information from its unaware users.
Response-Do you agree/disagree, or both agree and disagree with viewpoints presented in the article? Why? :
Point#1 I strongly agree with Facebook’s claim that the face recognition tool has allowed its users to help protect them from a stranger because in present context, mimicking and impersonating have become a great tool for a person who don’t like you or your success, to ruin your reputation. Using the picture of somebody else, strangers can misbehave in internet and the blame would be going to the person whose picture are being used.
Point#2 Although I agree with the opponents’ view that Facebook has violated the consent law because Facebook is using its users’ photo to verify other pictures without even notifying the users, I also agree with the proponents’ opinion that the tool is a high -tech tool which helps to improve security throughout the internet as this tool can be used to identify criminals.
Point#3 I agree with the article that the Facebook is taking huge risk over its reputation by launching this tool as question has been raised over privacy from F.R technology. It is because it is so common that when a company loses any allegation against it, it is also going to lose its customers and sponsors in the future. Same way, Facebook will bear a massive reputational and economic cost.
Conclusion:
The article talks about the Facebook’s facial recognition tool and how it has violated its users consent law and other possible implication of the tool.
