You will create a video, word document, power point or hand written pages with examples of Newton’s three laws of motion. Your project should include: Newton’s 1st Law of Motion State the law Videotape a person doing an action that demonstrates this law
Newton’s Laws of Motion Project
Georgia Standard:
S8P3. Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information about cause and effect relationships between force, mass, and the motion of objects.
b. Construct an explanation using Newton’s Laws of Motion to describe the effects of balanced and unbalanced forces on the motion of an object.
Review the three laws of motion:
· Newton's first law of motion says that an object in motion will stay in motion and an object at rest will stay at rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force.

· The second law of motion states that the force of an object is equal to its mass times its acceleration.

· Newton's third law of motion states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

For this project you must complete one of the two options stated below. Be sure to use the rubric on the last page in order to check your work before submitting.
Option A:
You will create a video, word document, power point or hand written pages with examples of Newton’s three laws of motion. Your project should include:
Newton’s 1st Law of Motion
1. State the law
2. Videotape a person doing an action that demonstrates this law. –or- Take a picture of a person doing an action that demonstrates this law. -or- Draw and label a picture of a person doing an action that demonstrates this law. (No Google searches, pictures or video must be original).
3. Explain in a paragraph or video how the action that was performed demonstrates this law. Your explanation must be at least 5 sentences and must be in your own words. (Each Law should be explained in detail using the following terms: force, motion, rate, acceleration, velocity, inertia, gravity and momentum, and action and reaction pairs.)
Newton’s 2nd Law of Motion
1. State the law
2. Videotape a person doing an action that demonstrates this law. –or- Take a picture of a person doing an action that demonstrates this law. -or- Draw and label a picture of a person doing an action that demonstrates this law. (No Google searches, pictures or video must be original)
Newton’s 3rd Law of Motion
1. State the law
2. Videotape a person doing an action that demonstrates this law. –or- Take a picture of a person doing an action that demonstrates this law. -or- Draw and label a picture a person doing an action that demonstrates this law. (No Google searches, pictures or video must be original)

Content of project |
All three laws of motion are clearly stated. Examples or experiments clearly demonstrate all three Laws of motion. |
All three laws of motion are clearly stated. Examples or experiments that represent all three Laws of motion are included, however 1 example does not demonstrate the law accurately. |
The three laws of motion are stated. Examples or experiments are included for each law. 2 examples do not accurately represent Newton’s Laws.
|
An attempt was made to state the three laws of motion and include examples or experiments of each, but some are missing or incomplete. |

Understanding of Newton’s three laws of motion |
Science vocabulary is used to accurately and completely explain how all three examples or experiments relate to each of the three laws of motion. Explanation shows a deep understanding of Newton’s Laws of Motion. |
Science vocabulary is used to explain how all three examples or experiments relate to each of the three laws of motion. Some vocabulary is used but not explained or some vocabulary is missing from explanation. |
An explanation of how each example or experiment relates to the three laws of motion is included, but more detail is needed. |
