PROGRESS REPORT – WEEK # 1 Progress Report Information: Brief description of activities, assignments, projects and type of training you were involved during each week of training, and problems faced with the resources used (Individuals, Books, and websites).
Tasks Done Problems Faced Resources Used
1- We identified the network’s components of
the directorate of health affairs.
2- We’ve helped creating the virtual LAN for
different departments to give specific
privileges to each one.
3- We’ve made the ethernet cable by striping,
arranging colors and crimping the cable. And
knowing the difference between the CAT5 &
CAT6.
4- We’ve traced the cable from the PC to which
port it belongs to in the switch by using the
tracer and replaced the damaged cable to a
new one.
5- We’ve added new devices to a local network
by extending the cable to the UTP switch,
and a cable from fiber switch to UTP switch.
We’ve struggled in the arrange of
the color-coded scheme of the
cable.
We had some difficulty in
identifying the problem with a PC
that has lost connection with the
local network.

1- We identified server domain Active
Directory and we got an overview look about
its components (objects, attributes, schema).
2- We installed and configured Active
Directory on windows server.
3- We create and activate emails through
Active Directory.
4- We create, add users and give privileges to
them.
5- We create group and adding some users to
the group.
6- We add computers within AD domain and
we moved the added computers to
organizational unit.
7- We tried to manipulate the authentication for
a test user, such as; denied the access after
working hours and blocking the access
completely.
We took some time to learn about
the active directory because it’s
something new for us.

3- We disrepute IPs inside the network
4- We installed the roles such as Hyper-V and
create another operating system in the same
device.
5- We create the file and drive sharing, also we
create file server on the network and control
the privileges.
6- We setup a shared printer as well as network
printer within the network.
7- We made a reservation IP for a device.
1- We had problem that the
network printer IP was
changing periodically.
2- We had a problem in a
certain PC that it cannot
be partitioning because it
has low resources.

1- The Medical Fitness center needed a
system for premarital screening, and we
went to each department that is related to
the system to take the system’s
requirements.
2- We analyzed the system and sketched the
design.
3- We’ve seen some of the government
websites and which programming
languages are used then we have
discussed with the head of programmers
and advised us to use ASP classic
language because it’s the most used
language in the government agencies.
4- He taught us the language basics and
explained how does it work with server.
5- We’ve started doing simple tasks using
ASP language.
6- We took an overview of a system similar
to the system we want to build.
7- We created a basic algorithm for the
system

1- We collected everything that we’ve
done related to the system and made a
project plan to start with
2- We installed Internet Information
Services on our computers and
converting them to local servers.
3- We started by coding the most
important part which is admins pages
where the database part is.
4- We've created user tables and all the
data that belongs to them.
5- We’ve created a table of page names
and assigns every page to specific
users, which is called the resource.
6- We created a table of permissions given
to each employee and each job position.
At first, the IIS was not
working probably because it
needs further configuration
such as updating the network
adapter drivers so it can be
compatible with IIS.
We encountered a problem in
accommodating the relation
between ASP and database.

1- We’ve created the security section,
which is the log table of each login to
the system.
2- We moved to the ASP and we created
“registered users” page and give them
permissions.
3- We made a validation process by
creating a “check” page which aims to
verify the username and password.
4- We created a "menu" page that
contains all sub-system lists.
5- We’ve started the coding for “home”
page.
6- We have connected the database with
ASP.
