Research Proposal (30%) Once the topic is approved, you are ready to write a comprehensive research proposal. Without this approval, the proposal will not be graded and you will get 0% on this second assignment. Your proposal MUST be on the same topic introduced in your first assignment and is expected to integrate the feedback given on that assignment. You can submit only one version of this paper so be sure that you have included all components. Again use 11- or 12-point font, 1" margins, single spacing.

The preparation of proposals is preliminary to securing work contracts and to preparing business reports in today’s work and academic environments. Of particular concern is that the research adheres to the highest ethical standards. At this stage, all ethical issues must be identified and addressed appropriately. Otherwise, the project execution would not be approved. Title Page & Table of Contents (3 marks) Start with a Title Page that includes your full academic information and the title of your research project: who, what, where, and when (see text, page 279 for sample formatting of the title page). Revise your Title as required based on the feedback from your first assignment. Prepare a Table of Contents (use appropriate formatting and headings). Project Summary (16 marks) Purpose of the Study (2 marks): Clearly state, in a sentence or two, the objective that will be achieved by completing this study. The purpose should be high level and match the details stated in the title.

Scope (3 marks): Provide more detail on the purpose by defining the boundaries of the study and stating in specific terms what is and is not going to be covered. The extent of this section will depend on the topic chosen. The specific points of the study must be the foundation for the actual questions that would be asked in the primary research. Literature Review (8 marks): Complete a comprehensive review of the secondary research using proper APA documentation. The review must include at least five sources. These can include those listed in the first assignment as well as additional credible sources. The review should provide the reader with a clear understanding of the current research in your topic. DO NOT write five separate summaries; instead, connect the research. Primary Data Methodology (3 marks): Specify the method you propose to collect the primary research on your topic and the rationale for why. The study should include the use of personal interviews or questionnaires. Identify the types of people who would be interviewed and in Appendix A include an appropriate interview guide for each person, or identify a sample

survey group and include the appropriate questionnaire in Appendix A. The tool in Appendix A should be the ready-to-use final version. Provide detail on the proposed method for how the data would be collected and justify the number and type of participants. Remember: you DO NOT actually conduct the research.

Statement of Ethical Issues (5 marks) Identify any and all ethical issues associated with the research and indicate how these issues would be addressed. The following points should be reviewed: types of participants, recruitment process, confidentiality, voluntary participation, risks, and benefits. Reference List (1 mark) Cite sources used in Literature Review in APA format.

Appendices (5 marks) Include the following in separate appendices: Appendix A (5 marks): A copy of the ready-to-use instrument that would be used to gather primary information, in the form of a blank questionnaire and/or interview guides. Appendix B: A signed Research Proposal Checklist to verify that you have read and complied with the assignment requirements.
