1. Review using clear terminology the key areas and processes of project, program and portfolio management practices as applies to asset rich organisations.

When I reviewed the use of project, portfolio and program management in major Dutch organizations, I understood that maturity of these organizations are highly dependent on these practices that identify bottlenecks to effectively professionalize a project organization. The main areas that evolve by adopting these practices include financial management and management control. As a results of which rich asset organizations are considered more mature than smaller organizations which differs with distinct line in operations and project handling. These practices provide consistent set of policies and standards and clear process ownership. Other main areas that I believe come under the impact of such practices include stakeholders, resources and benefits management.

2. Discuss the relevance of tools and techniques for investigating and describing project process related to developing new workings, facilities, equipment, plant and processes for justifying, designing, developing, or maintaining existing facilities and equipment within the context of their technological and asset lifecycle status.

I reviewed the importance of asset management in sustainable service delivery and understood that several asset management tools hold relevance to these managing the appropriate use of organizational resources. The employees and other users previously considered these resources for granted. But once these tools and techniques were applied, budgets were balanced for proper use and development of assets within business. This is what resulted in sustainable service delivery that offered future liveability to the company. Another benefit was achieved in overcoming infrastructure gap. Along with all these benefits, public safety protection was a major concern. Damages were reduced, system liability increased and value for money increased significantly.

3. Present and interpret major processes that are based on sound policy, information, and research that enable project justification, tenders, contracts, and selection criteria to occur in an asset rich organisation.

A typical tender process starts with a determination of the tender detailing its type, use and involved processes. This is followed by generating request to prepare tender. This request details contractual requirements that must be responded. Then the tenders are invited based on the complexity, value and business category. Finally, the suppliers respond to the tender upon which tender is evaluated and selected by the originating company. These tenders are created under standardized policy structures otherwise they are dropped. I understood that non standardized tenders that dissatisfy the suppliers are not selected.

4. Critically analyse management strategies and operational activities from a broad perspective to ensure safety and quality, to avoid overruns or rework, to manage variations and claims, and to make decisions to discontinue or close projects.

After reviewing extensive literature in the field of asset rich projects, I understood that larger the project, more the constrains and internal conflicts. So these project require exceptional operational activities and management strategies. The project managers firstidentify right people that should be involved in the decision making process. This should be supported by effective change management practices that can easily manage cost and rime overruns while maintaining the safety of the people involved. Variations in claims are also effectively managed with clear and concise SLAs in placed.

5. Demonstrate an effective, professional level of teamwork and communication and support collaborative peer group learning.

I related the concepts of collaborative peer learning and team work to my workplace where I work as a waitress. Even in this part time job, I have learnt and nurtured my professional skills. I have understood the importance of communication and teamwork. When we worked together in a team we were able to handle peak demands that are not feasible by an individual. This strengthened our bond and commitment to the company. Moreover, we usually came up with creative and innovative ideas to better please our customers. When one lagged behind in certain skill, the other one covered for him.
