However, no changes in the mission or vision of the organization have been announced.
Erica and class: Would you recommend changes to the mission and vision to ensure that these quality lapses are not repeated?

According to the Walgreens website, their vision statement is "to be America's most-loved pharmacy-led health, well-being and beauty company" (Walgreens, n.d.). While there is no specific mention of a mission statement, there is a statement of "our purpose," which is listed on the same site as "champion the health and well-being of every community in America" (Walgreens, n.d.).
The vision and mission statements primarily focus on Walgreens's role as a healthcare provider. These statements especially focus on the idea that Walgreens's growth is focused on reaching all Americans and gaining their love as healthcare providers. This really works because it adds a great strength of purpose to the company. By giving themselves a people-oriented growth goal, they can emphasize a message of expansion and strength while not focusing entirely on the financial aspect. I like these statements enough that I don't really see any specific ways to improve these but I do think that there's probably some way to make these statements feel less cold. I tend to feel mission and vision statements in general feel a little too cold to be properly

motivational. While these statements feel better than those of a lot of other companies, I do feel that Walgreens's could stand for a little bit of improvement.
To answer the question of ease of discovery, the vision statement was super easy to find with a simple google search, but the mission statement was nowhere to be found. I tried looking up other websites to see if I was just blind, but even fancy official sources looking to catalogue the mission statements of various companies just list the purpose statement. Given the situation, I decided to just roll with it, "If it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me."

When searching for Johnson&Johnson's mission statement, I was able to find their "Credo". It reads as follows:
"Our Credo
We believe our first responsibility is to the patients, doctors and nurses, to mothers and fathers and all others who use our products and services. In meeting their needs everything we do must be of high quality. We must constantly strive to provide value, reduce our costs and maintain reasonable prices. Customers' orders must be serviced promptly and accurately. Our business partners must have an opportunity to make a fair profit.
We are responsible to our employees who work with us throughout the world. We must provide an inclusive work environment where each person must be considered as an individual. We must respect their diversity and dignity and recognize their merit. They must have a sense of security, fulfillment and purpose in their jobs. Compensation must be fair and adequate and working conditions clean, orderly and safe. We must support the health and well-being of our employees and help them fulfill their family and other personal responsibilities. Employees must feel free to make suggestions and complaints. equal opportunity for employment, development and advancement for those qualified. We must provide highly capable leaders and their actions must be just and ethical.
We are responsible to the communities in which we live and work and to the world community as well. We must help people be healthier by supporting better access and care in more places around the world. We must be good citizens — support good works and charities, better health and education, and bear our fair share of taxes. We must maintain in good order the property we are privileged to use, protecting the environment and natural resources.
Our final responsibility is to our stockholders. Business must make a sound profit. We must experiment with new ideas. Research must be carried on, innovative programs developed, investments made for the future and mistakes paid for. New equipment must be purchased, new facilities provided and new products launched. Reserves must be created to provide for adverse times. When we operate according to these principles, the stockholders should realize a fair return.
" Within this credo, they do explicitly state where their responsibilities lie as a company in terms of their consumers and investors. As I mentioned in our paper due last week, they have a mantra that consistently speaks on wanting to create the highest of quality products for their consumers and clients. This means always being on top of improvement and innovation, as well as making sure they are a leader in their field and an example for others to follow. It wasn't difficult to find this, though I did expect to just find a mission or vision statement. Even though there is no way for this to roll off the tongue, it does a good job of explaining their goals. Our Credo. (n.d.). Camerra,
This is a great company to choose. I find this company so interesting. I think a lot of companies should take note because they have been able to stay on the Fortune 500 list for over 65 years. Many people believe that this Credo played a huge role in saving their reputation during the Tylenol murders where someone had tampered with the capsule and slipped
