1. Introduction

The aspect of identity theft has in recent years been a great issue in the society. It also defines the aspect as basically using another person’s name for ones’ individual gain. This includes using another person’s personal information such as social security number. It explains how identity thieves occasionally aim at having or acquiring money illegally. They may even have the intent of gaining their credit.

2. Thesis statement

Both the private sector and public sector facilitates as well as provide tools that assist consumers to prevent themselves proactively from the identity theft and that enhance reduction of the harm the identity theft potentially have on the consumer (Sandra & Tracy, 2010)

3. Problem statement

This states the various types of cases associated with identity theft. It also explains how such cases occur to different individuals.

i. The first case examined is the criminal identity theft (Ron, 2013). This occurs where an individual report the police with a fraudulent identity. This can be significantly either with the fake identity they have already enumerated and replaced on their actual identity.

ii. The second type explained is the identity cloning or rather the impersonation where the identity thief may impersonate themselves in the aim of hiding their personalities or identity from the get know how of the government, creditors or even in their respective institutions where they have an intent of doing some criminal activities.

iii. The third type explained is theft is the medical identity theft where the identity thief tries to find some medical health care using another person’s identity (Ron, 2013).

4. Effects of Identity Theft

There are various effects of identity thieves on individuals

i. Financial hardships- this is experienced when the identity theft last lots of months and years after personal information of an individual is exhibited (Claudia, 2004). This will significantly depend on the type of data that the identity thief had intent distort and managed to alter the algorithms of the database of the account.

ii. Emotional tolls- it explains how, identity theft can alter the emotions of the victimized individual hence arousing different emotional reactions.

iii. Physical toll- this states how most of the harassed victims by the occurrences of identity theft are reported to experience fears of their physical identity being identified (Claudia, 2004). It gives statistical data on the how individuals are affected based on research findings.

5. Data collection and analysis

This part explains the different methods utilized in the collecting of useful data for the project. Such sources include previous researches, interviews, questionnaires, investigative reports as well as from different publications. The data obtained is recorded in tables and represented using graphs and pie charts from where discussions and conclusions are based.

6. Relevance and Significance of Preventing Identity Theft

i. To business organizations- it enables organizations to secure their data and implement measures that detect any instances of fraudulent attempts which may lead to financial losses (Martin (2009).

ii. To individuals- enables an individual to protect their identity from any individuals who may increase their vulnerability as well as be proactive in securing their identity (Martin (2009).

7. Conclusion

The conclusions are based on the discussions undertaken throughout the study. It also states the various types of identity theft and the solutions outlined for the different cases. This part also affirms the thesis statement as well as the problem statements to review the main aim of the discussion. Lastly, it states the significance of preventing identity theft.
