It’s the story of a beautiful and loving marriage, told through the span of a dog’s life.

You get to see the ins and outs of a relationship and see over 15 years and have it be funny because life is funny and dramatic.”

There are a lot of true moments in the movie, which should make parents consider whether it’s appropriate for their children.

The film, opening Christmas Day, begins when Jen and John set off for their first real jobs as newlyweds.

"Marley and Me" tenderly follows its subject from sunrise to sunset, from the ball-of-fluff stage to the heartbreaking farewell.

It's a book with intense but narrow appeal, strictly limited to anyone who has ever had, known or wanted a dog.

Mr. Grogan keeps the book agile by sticking to Marley-centric episodes and by locating a crazed bit of Marleyness in any event he describes.

Eventually a shadow falls over this story. Though the book is full of tail-thumping enthusiasm, there comes a time when Marley just can't shred the furniture any more.

Unlike some movies which pile on silly situations, “Marley and Me” shows a happy and loving couple as they deal with real life issues. Of course things happen… but more or less the movie shows a happy family and I think audiences are going to really enjoy this movie.

So when I read Grogan’s article, I was not grossed out, I totally empathized with him.
