Vision
Five years from now I envision myself being a registered radiographer with a few years of work experience under my belt to consider becoming a radiologist assistant. I like the idea of having more of a leading role with patients and not just taking x-rays. For now, I am going to focus on getting my bachelor’s degree in radiologic science so I can take me registry to become a licensed radiologic technologist.
Mission Statement
To always remember to be caring, learn as much as I can, and enjoy working with patients. To fulfill my vision, I must first complete my bachelor’s degree in radiologic science so I can begin my career in radiology. I plan to achieve this goal by May 2022 and will gain as much experience I can through both classroom work and clinical rotations. After I am licensed and can work for a few years to gain knowledge and experience I will pursue further education to become a radiologist assistant.
Factors Critical for Success
One of the main factors for success in this field is staying ahead of the work given and giving it my all in clinical rotations to gain as much knowledge as I can in the hopes of passing the registry. Once I have passed all my classes and achieved what is needed in clinicals, I can then take the registry to become a registered radiologic technologist. When that goal is achieved, I will then look for a facility to start working in and gain as much experience that I can to be prepared for my education needed to become a radiologist assistant.
Goals
My short-term goals are to pass all my classes and achieve the requirements needed to pass my clinicals. After that has been achieved, I will then take and hopefully pass the registry. Once that is completed, I can begin working as rad tech.
My long-term goals are gain the required knowledge to start my journey of becoming a radiologist assistant, and hopefully gain the certification needed to find a career as a radiologist assistant.
Action Steps:
Short Term
I will need to continue working hard in my education to gain the required knowledge to pass the classes and registry. I will need to formulate some sort of study group with my classmates to help understand the material, as well as use online studying tools to help me further understand the content.
Long Term
I will need to gather more information about where I can gain the education needed to become a radiologist assistant if still plan to do so after graduation. I will also need to find what facilities will give me the best experience in order to hone my skills in order to become an assistant. I will also need to form some connections with both faculty members at ETSU and at my clinical sites in the hopes of having more opportunities after graduation.
Desired Results
My desired results are to graduate and be registered by summer of 2022 and hope to start working around the same time. If I can work for a couple years and gain the knowledge needed to further my education, I will consider furthering my education around 2025 to become a radiologist assistant. The end goal ultimately is to find a career that is rewarding and allows me to demonstrate the knowledge and experience that I have gained.
