Getting Started

In Workshop One, you selected a criminal justice or homeland security topic to research for your capstone research paper. As a researcher, your next step is to properly select a set of sources to enhance the task at hand. This can be a process within a process.

Nonetheless, the literary sources chosen will allow for an interpretation of what's to come. Furthermore, a large bulk of your writing should include citations derived from the sources, alongside your original work.

In this assignment, you will select articles, conduct a literature review, and construct an annotated bibliography for your capstone research paper. This pinnacle step in your research study will help you to properly direct your research and support the stance and design of the research you have selected.

Upon successful completion of this assignment, you will be able to:

· Explore scholarly written publications that support your case study.

· Evaluate information from various sources such as books, articles, and websites.

· Construct an annotated bibliography of sources used in your research paper.

· Support your research with documented sources.

Background Information

The literature review is an integral part of developing your capstone research paper. You need to carefully consider the direction your selected topic is going to veer, and the selection of your sources will exhibit this path.

As part of your literature review, research and select three sources stemming from previous research studies in which an interview took place that is similar to your planned interview. The articles you research do not have to be on the same topic as yours, but they should be in alignment with your problem statement.

With the annotated bibliography, you will provide a summary for each of your sources, allowing the audience to gain a valuable perspective on your topic in the process.
