45 Chapter 2 Recognizing Your Traits
2.4 REFLECTION AND ACTION WORKSHEET
Leadership Traits
Reflection
1. Based on the scores you received on the Leadership Traits Questionnaire, what are your strongest leadership traits? What are your weakest traits? Discuss. Based upon the questionnaire scores self confidence is my strongest leadership trait and achievement is my weakness trait as it makes me more workaholic regardless the situations takes place.
2. In this chapter, we discussed five leadership figures. As you read about these leaders, which leaders did you find most appealing? What was it about their leadership that you found remarkable? Discuss. Most appealing according to me is Oprah Winfrey as she was an excellent communicator about her life and comfortable communicating with others life. Her sociability was the appealing trait for me. Her insight, remarkable journey about her leadership.
3. As you reflect on your own leadership traits, do you think some of them are more “you” and authentic than others? Have you always been the kind of leader you are today, or have your traits changed over time? Are you a stronger leader today than you were five years ago? Discuss. I think the leadership traits are more myself than others. I always have been the kind of leader of today. Honestly, the leader today has change my life.
Action
1. If you could model yourself after one or more of the historical leaders we discussed in this chapter, whom would you model yourself after? Identify two of their traits that you could and should incorporate into your own style of leadership. In the chapter of historical leader I would model myself into Oprah Winfrey. She was one of my idol that caught my attention by reading her own leadership traits. I should incorporate being more communicator to others and be charismatic to have a connection with people.
2. Based on the case study of Tim T., which of his traits could you incorporate into your own leadership? Discuss. I think and I have few of the same strenghts. We are people by nature, meaning we like to interact and help others. But one thing time did that I have not done is go
into my weaknesses and make them into strenghts. That is something I could do for myself. I am not very self-analytical because I am usually focused on helping that other person so I think the trait of being able to step back and see how you can better yourself is a good on or knowing where your strenghts and weaknesses are.
3. Although changing leadership traits is not easy, which of your leadership traits would you like to change? Specifically, what actions do you need to take to change your traits? According the change of leadership traits, I wouldn’t change anything because this traits fit perfectly fine in my life.
4. All of us have problematic traits that inhibit our leadership but are difficult to change. Which single trait dis- tracts from your leadership? Since you cannot easily change this trait, what actions can you take to “work around” this trait? Discuss. I am very stubborn when someone expresses a disagreement with something or someone I love or feel passionately for. I need to be able to hear other’s opinion in order to be able to grow connection and even strenghten my argument than just dismiss their opinion entirely.
