2.3 Reflection Paper

Getting Started

We have spent significant time this week considering how Adult Learning theory impacts leadership. Now, you have the opportunity to take the learning further by considering how you might leverage adult learning theory within your own leadership and organization.

Upon successful completion of this assignment, you will be able to:

· Self-reflect on impact of values and virtues on investment in others.

· Reflect on how adult learning theory impacts your leadership.

· Reflect on the resources needed to promote organizational learning within your context.

Background Information

Your preparation for this assignment begins by reviewing all of the material assigned in Workshop Two, including  2.2 Assignment: Adult Learning (Knowles) (new tab) .

As you review these materials, consider how you might integrate what you have learned about adult learning and organizational learning into your own context. Also, consider how these principles might influence your leadership motivations. Self-reflection on your inner life will help prepare you to lead others.

Instructions

1. Review the rubric to make sure you understand the criteria for earning your grade.

2. Review all of the materials assigned in Workshop Two, including book chapters, articles, and videos (these are the same resources used for this week’s Workshop discussion forum).

3. Write a two-page reflection paper (500-600 words double-spaced in a Word document), addressing the following reflection prompts:

a. Why is it important for you to recognize the needs of adult learners?

b. How might knowing their needs impact your leadership approach?

c. How might you influence the learning process in your organization to meet the needs of adult learners?

d. Is your organization a learning organization? Why or why not?

e. How might you foster individual learning in your organization?

f. How might you promote organizational learning in your context?

g. How do your values and virtues influence your investment in others and their change efforts?  

4. Inasmuch as this is a reflection paper, first-person voice is acceptable. No additional sources are required, as well.
