or the second Moodle Activity (which uses a discussion forum), I would like each student to evaluate SIX of the following ten statements. For each statement, tell me if you believe the statement is true or false and 2) why you believe the statement is true or false. Please note: I do not expect you to necessarily know the correct answer. However, I want to see your reasoning. DO NOT TRY TO GOOGLE THE ANSWER. That defeats the purpose.
Statements:
1) Unionized workers tend to be more productive that equivalent workers who are not unionized.
2) Conscientiousness (i.e., how hardworking, reliable, self-disciplined a person is) is often more important for job performance than intelligence (i.e., how smart a person is).
3) Most employees have a good idea what type of benefits their current employer offers (and how much those benefits are worth).
4) Older adults tend to benefit more (i.e., learn more) from training programs than young adults.
5) A religious organization is permitted to discriminate on the basis of religion.
6) Lecture-based training is superior to other forms of training delivery.
7) Most people tend to believe they perform better at their jobs than they actually do (when compared to more objective measurements).
8) Companies that have low rates of turnover tend to be less profitable than companies with higher turnover rates.
9) Despite the popularity of drug testing, there is no clear evidence that applicants who test positive for drugs are any less reliable or productive than applicants who test negative.
10) When interviewing job candidates, it is best to ask each candidate different questions based on his or her unique background.
Points. 1 point for providing a convincing answer to each of the six statements selected (Total = 6 points max).
