I have learned throughout this program that how we view and do things is tied closely to our worldview. Our worldview is how we see the world and things around us, and as Christians, it is very important that we maintain a Christian worldview, and at times that was something I struggled with. Trying to be a good follower of Christ and not allow the otherworldly things and problems to pull me away from him was hard, but now that I have learned how important it is to have a solid foundation in my leadership and faith. I have a new mindset on how I do things and I ask myself. Is this the best way to do it? Does this align with my morals and values? Lastly, will this help better my followers? Those simple questions have helped me greatly.

My faith has become my main worldview. When I started this degree, it was always there but never the first thing I thought about and that has completely changed. One of the reasons I wanted to go to IWU was because of it being a Christian-based School and I wanted to grow in my faith. Service was something I feel that I have always done without even knowing I was. I have been a people person and one that has always wanted to take care of the people around me and to ensure they have what they need and if they didn’t, I would ask our leadership to get those needed things. It is about taking care of each other and being there for one another.

My lack of knowledge and understanding of the subject is the most challenging when considering worldviews. Behind the knowledge is first appreciating and respecting different cultures and viewing the world through their lens. For example, a person who lives in Russia will not have the same worldviews as a person like me who lives in the United States, our cultures are not the same, and we have experienced different things in our society for our worldviews to have a different outlook on our life. My faith plays a huge part in how I see the world. I was raised in the Christian worldview and have always believed in one God and that we should love one another and never pass judgment because no one is perfect. My Christian faith has helped me grow as a leader because I see the potential in my team. I have learned how different perspectives help to keep the organization growing with ideas and effective communication. The most important topic I have studied was Emotional intelligence. The reason why is that in the beginning, I was a person who did not have a great poker face. If I were irritated, mad, or frustrated with work, it would show on my face faster than I could say. Then I had to sit back and analyze myself. As a leader, this is not someone I wanted to work for, so I am sure people felt the same about me. After readjusting a few things, I was working on myself and projecting more positivity. I provided a healthier, more supportive leader giving my ideas and helping out more in the company. All of this gave me the confidence to be the leader others now seek out for advice.
