Some of these instructions are being repeated from last week:
1) Now that you have chosen a fairly controversial and fairly complicated topic/problem to write about, let's work together on making it a more focused topic/problem. Remember that this cannot be a overly difficult topic/problem (say, the Middle East Crisis) and it cannot be a way too simplistic topic/problem (say, why my sports team cannot win a championship).
2) You should come up with several causes and solutions for this problem--you will find that there are many possible causes and solutions, so you will eventually need to settle on the 3 best ones that will fulfill the requirements of this paper. Expect that we will discuss as many topics as possible during our Zoom meeting this week.
3) You should also find information justifying that this problem is valid to learn and read about as well as learning about some brief history as to when this problem began.
4) Eventually you will be writing a 6-8 page paper, but not immediately. For the 1st draft, you will prepare a well-planned 2-page maximum Informal Outline; the 2nd draft you will be a new and improved 2-page maximum Informal Outline with a Works Cited page--please do not write a full paper yet for this assignment. Due dates for these drafts are as follows:
1st Draft Informal Outline: Thursday, November 19
Peer Editing on the 1st Draft Informal Outlines: Saturday, November 21
2nd Draft Informal Outline: Wednesday, November 25
Final Drafts: the first full week on December, the week before the Final Exam.
Just like with Papers #1 & #2, your 1st draft will be a 2-page maximum Informal Outline that will undergo peer editing by 2 peers in the class; you also have the option to go to the Online Writing Center as well the Reference Librarian desk for extra help. The 2nd draft will be revised Informal Outlines that I will look at and give you my feedback on.
In conclusion, please have a 1st Draft Informal Outline for Thursday, November 19, no later than 11:59pm. I do not expect you to have everything finalized right now; I do, however, want to see that you have a working idea on how to write this paper. Please review how to do an Informal Outline if you need to (the first 2-3 Modules of our semester). Have a few sentences showing:
