This paper talks about the importance of labeling patient specimens. This can be extremely dangerous when diagnosing the patient and properly treating them. Failure to do so can lead to other very serious issues not only for the employee but, also for the patient because the outcome could be potentially fatal. |

ZJ included a lot of information and basis of why labeling specimens is so important. She listed all of the serious outcomes that could happen if people failed to do so. She also used research to support these outcomes.

Although I found the information to relate very well to the topic, there are a fair amount of grammatical errors and repetition of points made.

ZJ did well using research to support this topic but she also incorporated her input on it as well. She gave great examples of requirements to ensure the safety of the patient.

Author does a great comparison those who label specimens and those who have failed to do so. She explains the negative effects that can come with not labeling specimens properly and ways to help reduce potential specimen errors effectively.

She gives a great example of the effectiveness of the specific study she chooses. She included methods to help detect mislabeling of specimens and how they can have remarkable decreases of the potential specimens errors that could be caught before it happens.

ZJ’s literature review main focus in on the failure to label specimens, through the use of different articles, studies and information helps to support the importance of labeling specimens correctly. Laboratory managers need to apply polies and practices where specimen mislabeling does not happen. Mislabeling can lead to patient’s death and wrong diagnosis. With easy steps specimen errors can be avoided. |
