Re: Topic 2 DQ 1
Class,
There have many things that have changed over the years whe it comes to sx and gender. Whatis considered Male/Female. What is a persons right to choose and when? "The idea of the social construct of gender is that society defines what it means to be male and female. Society prescribes appropriate roles for males and females that have varying sanctions for those deviating from the norms (Ampofo, 2001). Religious literature refers to traits men and women are supposed to portray as a depictions of normal behavior. Social media provide visuals about the type of products, clothing, and sexual attraction that are appropriate for each gender. Gender norms are something society created."(Gardner, S. (2015)) There are so many cintributing factors to someones sexuality. Esoecially when growing up and what they re exposed to. Our culture now is so highly sexuallized it is hard to not have our children see something obscene or feel sexualized anf have it affect them

Good morning class and Professor,
Let me first start by saying this question was a little difficult for me because if I watch a commercial, I do not sit there and analyze it. It is hard for me to depict the meaning of a commercial. For me, a commercial is a form of trying to sell something, I might have done the readings, but it was still difficult for me. I did end up finding five commercials and what they portrayed. 1) Neutragena and it had Jennifer Garner speaking and it appeared to be geared to women. 2) Then there was a peptobismol commercial and really no gender role expectations in that one. It was taking place on an airplane. 3) Then you have your beer commercials and the target audiences are mostly male in my opinion. 4) I saw one for Bayada Nurses and again no real gender expectations that I could see in in it. Just a guy in a wheelchair waiting for his nurse to come in bad weather. 5) Lastly, I saw one for Aveeno and that one had two women in it, so my guess would be that could be geared towards women. I gave this response my best shot. Thank you.
