Survey of American Literature: Exploration through the Civil War

The works of early Romantics tend to emphasize themes of nature, the past, and the inner-world of human nature (psychology). After having read the selections by Irving, Cooper, and Bryant, provide examples of how each of these themes appears. How are your examples significant to the work(s) in which they appear?
