Why do I want to be a Nurse?

Nursing as a profession provides a meaningful career filled with diverse rewards,

opportunities and challenges. I chose to study nursing because of my red-hot passion to improve

the well-being of the people from all walks of life. In other words, I have always endeavored to

see people lead better lives and nursing is one of the ways of serving humanity and as well make

a difference in the world. I resolved to pursue it because I care about the welfare of other people

and because I like helping despite it not being an easy task. It is also an enjoyable and rewarding

career.

Nurses are among the most important practitioners when it comes to community health.

Before I decided to pursue nursing, I was witnessing significant deaths of unborn children and

mothers because of poor maternal health. I even lost my close relatives in the process of child

delivery because of poor maternal health. It is important underscore the fact that losing one life

whether a baby or an adult is greatly costly and painful. These are some of the issues that

sparked my interest to join nursing in order to help people regain their health, participate actively

in community health initiatives and projects, making dying persons more comfortable and finally

make a difference in the entire world.

As mentioned earlier, nursing is a career that helps one to save lives, bring back

happiness to people suffering from different ailments as well as their families. When I was in

high school, my best friend was involved in an accident. After the accident occurred, she was

taken to hospital where I visited her to get to understand her condition and whether she was

recuperating well. During this visit, I met this very compassionate and strong-valued nurse with

a great urge to help her. Despite the fact that fighting for her life was a challenging experience

bearing the injuries, I was moved by her kindness and compassion to see my best friend recover.

This is one of the major personal experiences that sparked my passion to join the nursing

profession.

By professional goal in nursing is to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree and

become a registered nurse manager. Achieving this will help me to influence nursing policies

directly in the effort to optimize patients’ outcomes as much as possible.

In the next five years, I see myself being a registered nurse manager. This will be

achieved through the efforts I am making to enhance my academic achievement and as well gain

more hands-on experience to propel my prospects to this level in the next five years.

A perfect job in nursing is defined by evidence-based practice. This depicts the practice

of making nursing decisions based on data. It is important to underscore the fact that many lives

have been lost besides worsening the conditions of the patients just because of medical errors.

Evidence-based nursing is one of the primary approaches of addressing these challenges.
