By now, you have completed 15 assignments that comprise the Elements of Service. For this assignment, you will reflect on your writing up to this point with regard to how the 15 elements that you have studied effect almost any service organization. Here are a few tips for successfully completing the assignment:

· The most frequently asked question: “So, what am I supposed to include in the Power Point slides?” Answer: You will follow the Slide Presentation Format for each slide. You will see this format guide located on this template after these instructions and tips. Follow the format guide precisely and you will provide what I expect to see.

· To prepare for this assignment: You will now have read the text, reviewed the Chapter Power Point Slides, and viewed the streaming chapter lectures.

· Open a Power Point program (or similar) and get ready to create a slide presentation.

· When creating slides about your observations, realize that you have likely discovered that you can get a far better and more accurate understanding of your subject organization(s) by visiting and observing multiple times before completing your assignments. Visiting and observing at different times and days helped to provide a clearer picture of how the establishment performs overall.

· This assignment, like everything that you do for this course, has a set deadline (both time and date). The deadline is listed in the syllabus. While you can turn in any assignment early or on time, you cannot turn in anything late. No credit will be given for assignments turned in late.

· Make this and all assignment submittals through Blackboard. Do not submit any assignment by email attachment, as it will not receive credit.

· If you are unsure how to submit an assignment correctly using Blackboard, refer to and follow the directions provided in the syllabus.

· Prepare each slide completely, but write it in a way as though you were going to present it to an audience in blurb format. Do not write in complete sentences. Instead, use a bullet or number format.

· Re-read, review, edit, think, edit more, and make sure that you are happy with your product before uploading the absolute best assignment version that you are capable of creating.

Slide Presentation Format

Slide 1: Title slide with your name and a title of your choice

Slide 2: Background. Provide a brief background of the organization or organizations that you studied. Include on the slide: the name(s) of the organization(s) and the hospitality sub industry (such as, casual dining restaurant), if it isn’t clear by their name(s), location(s), and anything else that might be interesting to list.

Slide 3: List 3 particularly good examples from the strengths that you wrote about in the previous assignments – things that were done particularly well that pleased you.

Slide 4: List 3 bad examples from the weaknesses that you wrote about in the previous assignments – things that were done badly that should not have been.

Slide 5: List 1 particularly ugly example (the worst issue that you observed) from the weaknesses that you wrote about in the previous assignments – your choice of something that was done so badly that you or another customer probably would not return as a result.

Slide 6, 7, 8: The Consultants' Recommendations: This part of the presentation will present three specific recommendations for improving the service within the operations that you have been observing. What needs to be done to improve the management of service? Be specific. Discuss examples. The set-up for slides 6, 7, and 8 is to A) name of the recommendation, B) state the features of the recommendation (what management should do), and C) list the outcome (the projected benefits) by implementing the recommendation.

Slide 9: This is your concluding slide. You may write anything that you would like here about your overall impressions.
