Change management

Our text identifies organizational change as planned alternations to organizational components with the intent to improve the effectiveness of the organization (Cawsey, 2016). When an organization is able to improve their efficacy, they in turn increase their ability to create value for those that they serve.

After a thorough evaluation of the productivity levels of employee and systems within the organization that I work for, I have come to a conclusion that there is need to change the current old version information technology system and replace it with a more advanced business intelligence system that will facilitate the organization towards the achievement of good competitive advantages in the market.

The change process can be facilitated by the Kotter’s 8 step process in order to achieve effectiveness. I will develop the sense of urgency by providing facts about how the organization can achieve effectiveness when thing are done urgently. Next is to ensure I develop a guiding coalition with the parties involved like IT team, change team and management. Also, I need to develop a vision for change which will be to be updated and ensure the organization achieves effectiveness through better systems. The vision will be communicated to the team members effectively using emails, face to face and meeting. I will facilitate the process of training and educational programs that will ensure the removal of obstacles for change. Also, creation go short-term wins is vital as the employees and the team will be appreciated with the slight improvement they make after embracing the change. Consolidation of the improvement is vital to ensure that the new business intelligence systems or technology is fully functional and various changes can be made to ensure sustainability. The last step is the anchor of change where the employee together with me in the management need to incorporate the change as organizational culture and ensure its sustainability is guaranteed.

I would identify this type of change as overhauling or recreating. Overhauling is the “dramatic shift that occurs in reaction to major external events (Bridges, 2007). The need to move to the new business intelligence system is due to the forces of advancement of technology in the market which will ensure the organization is competitive and effective.
