Major  Assignment  #2:  Research  Solution  Proposal    

For  your  second  major  assignment,  you  will  identify  a  problem  that  needs  to  be  solved   relating  to  your  (potential)  future  career/field  of  study.  You  will  write  a  minimum  TEN  page   proposal  recommending  a  solution  for  the  problem.  Select  a  topic  that  is  challenging,   specific  and  relevant  to  your  interests.  I  will  have  final  approval  of  your  topic  selection.     You  will  write  an  external  proposal,  which  means  you  are  writing  this  proposal  for  an  owner   or  CEO  of  a  company/organization  in  order  to  convince  him  or  her  to  adopt  your  proposal.   You  can  write  the  proposal  as  if  it  were  for  the  entire  industry  or  for  the  company  itself.    

  Your  proposal  needs  to  include  the  following  sections  in  your  proposal:  

•   Transmittal  Letter  (should  be  done  last)  

•   Executive  Summary  (should  be  done  last)  

•   Introduction  

•   Problem  Statement  and  Analysis  

•   Solution  Analysis  

•   Work  Plan  

•   Budget/Cost  analysis  

•   Evaluation  

•   Conclusion  

•   References  Page  (APA  Formatted)  

  Your  completed  proposal  should  be  at  least  ten  pages  long,  single-­spaced  and  formatted   in  a  professional  manner  so  that  you  could  submit  it  to  a  CEO/president  of  a   company/organization.       You  will  need  at  least  FIVE  sources,  at  least  three  of  which  must  be  from  business  journals   or  other  reputable  sources  that  you  found  in  databases.      

  Your  proposal  will  be  graded  on  the  following  criteria:  

1.   Persuasiveness  

a.   Convincing  evidence/sources  

b.   Thorough  and  convincing  explanation  of  sources  

2.   Well-­documented,  credible  sources  

3.   Excellent  organization  

4.   Professional  appearance/presentation  

5.   Clear,  well-­focused  sentence  structure  that  uses  active  voice  

6.   Excellent  proofreading  so  that  document  is  error-­free    

7.   Adherence  to  all  requirements  on  this  assignment  sheet
