DM150 Web Content Management: Project 2
Advertising + Editorial = Advertorial
Project Description:
T-Shirt Screen printing business
An “advertorial” combines the words of an advertisement and an editorial. It is the name given to a piece of writing that replicates the editorial style of a printed or online newspaper or magazine—in terms of title, font style and size, picture formatting, and even column width.
Most effective in combining news or human-interest stories, the advertorial’s popularity for businesses lie in the fact that, advert or not, people like to learn about stuff and are happy to read long copy if it’s interesting, applies to their situation, and they feel they will benefit from it.
For Project 2, develop your own advertorial. Pick a product or a service that you know a lot about. Next, pick a newspaper, magazine or website where you want your advertorial to appear. Chapter 16 will provide you more direction on how to develop a good advertorial. Your advertorial should:
· Include a compelling headline
· Have a story that is interesting about the product/service you are writing about
· Be written like a brief news story in the publication you selected, not like a piece of advertising.
· Have an interesting picture
Your advertorial should have a minimum of 300 words. Submit your original editorial to Project 2 in Moodle.
