ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING TEST ASSIGNMENT

The test is divided into two different section Total Marks: 50

Section 1: Numerical – 30 Marks Section 2: Theoretical – 20 Marks

Section 1 - Numerical

1. We have a drive system which has the following components:

a. Motor

b. Single Gear Train

c. Inertia Torque

d. Hoist Load

e. Dry friction load

f. Viscous friction load

g. Fan load

Consider the diagram below:

The equation of motion is of the form: 𝑇 = 𝐶 + 𝑊𝑔 ( 𝑣𝜔𝑚) + 𝑊𝑟 + 𝑇𝑑 𝐶 + 𝐶 𝜔𝑚𝜖 + 𝐶 𝜔𝑚𝜃 Where, 𝐶 = ( 𝜔𝜔𝑚)𝜇 𝑬 𝒂𝒍 𝒂 𝒆: + + + + + 𝝐 + 𝜽 + 𝝁

2. (i) We have a 24kVA, 2400:240 V, 60 Hz, two-winding transformer. It needs to be used in a

distribution system at 2000:200V and 50 Hz. For this case the apparent power rating is x kVA.

(ii) An autotransformer is a device which is used as a variable voltage supply in the laboratory.

The construction of such a transformer is a single coil wound on a toroidal core. There exists a

common lead between the input and output. Also, the other output lead makes sliding contact

with the coil. When the input voltage is applied across the total span of the coil, then both coil

sections additive in nature. Let the autotransformer with us is rated 20A. The current rating for

the same is y A.

Evaluate: (x+y)

Section 2 – Theoretical

Write a report on Single – Phase auto sequential commutated inverter. Explain using circuit diagrams. Explain both modes (I and II). Also, give necessary mathematical expressions for the

same. Draw voltage and current waveforms. The structure of report should be as follows:

a. Title Page

b. Table of Contents

c. Introduction

d. Main Content

e. Ending Note (Can be conclusion, recommendation, or problems with their remedies)

f. References - Harvard
