Assessment 2 Personal Code of Ethics

Overview

Write 3–5 pages in which you describe your own personal code of conduct, as well as codes of ethical conduct for the information technology field.

A code of ethics is defined as a guideline for conduct. It is important to establish your own personal code of ethics to use in your professional life.

By successfully completing this assessment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the following course competencies and assessment criteria:

Competency 1: Evaluate information technology ethics and the implications for people and technological practices.

Describe codes of ethical conduct for the field of information technology. Competency 2: Evaluate ethical responsibilities of an information technology professional.

Explain ethical responsibilities of the information technology professional. Describe a personal code of ethics for a professional information technology environment.

Competency 4: Communicate effectively. Consistently apply appropriate APA style and formatting guidelines for resources, citations, and grammar.

Assessment Instructions

Use the Capella library and other resources to research codes of ethical conduct in the IT field. As you conduct your research, consider the following questions:

What conduct guidelines do you see for the IT profession? What are the ethical responsibilities of IT professionals in the workplace? How can you apply what you have discovered about ethical conduct, through your research and from your own experience, to your life as an IT professional?

Then, write a paper in which you address the following. Use your research to support your ideas.

Describe codes of ethical conduct for the information technology field. Explain ethical responsibilities for IT professionals. Describe your personal code of ethics for the IT environment.

Additional Requirements

Include a title page and a references page. Include an introductory paragraph and a concluding paragraph. Include a minimum of three research resources. Be sure to follow APA guidelines for style and formatting. Your finished assessment should be approximately 3–5 pages in length, excluding the title page and references page.
