America is in danger of developing one of the poorest populations among Western industrial nations. According to the National School Boards Association’s (NSBA) Center for Public Education report, just 79% of high school graduates enroll in college by age 20. Higher education has a lot of benefits, for example: in 2015, someone in the United States who had just high-school diploma earned about $30,600 on average. By comparison, an associate degree from a two-year college translated into $44,000 to $65,500 (www.nytimes.com). However, all U.S students should not be required to continue their public education through 2 years of a community college or the first 2 years at a four-year university because college is not for everyone. Trade school might be a better choice as one can get well-paying jobs without college degree. If further education was mandated taxes would be increased because some students cannot afford students loans. Getting higher education should be optional because other ways may be a better choice and flexible fit for everyone instead of just going to 14th grade or a college.
As a formal student, people must do and finish primary school, middle school, and high school or higher. The fact is, for varying reasons, every year over 1.2 million students drop out of high school in the United State alone. That a student every 26 seconds- or 7,000 a day. Some students do not want to go to school to finish their high school because they lost their motivation, lack support from their family or they use drugs or become pregnant, etc. Moreover, a student who enrolls to college might realize that their career major does not fit, or they pick the wrong one at beginning which they will drop of easier. In fact, the Institute of Education Statistics estimates that 40% of attendees at a four-year college drop out before completing their degree (www.nces.gov (2017)).Some people with a reason such keep their children at school because they do not do anything after high school graduation and easier to get over control. It is wrong to force someone who do not want to attend at school and study that lead to drop out of school neither high school or college. So why do let they find out and do whatever they want instead of going to school for parents’ wishing. The question is the requirement necessary?
On the other hand, spending two more year in public school will help student figure out what they want to do, how about students who know exactly what they want to do, why do they need to go two more years at school. 70% of Americans will study a 4-year college but less than 2/3 with graduate with a degree (“college dropout rate and other statistics”, collegeoatlas.org). Therefore, they go to trade school instead of going to college because they know they need a specific major, the career that they love, and they want to get their future certificate for. According to the National Center for Educational Statistics, technical and trade school jobs have a median annual salary of $35,720 the opposite, the BLS predicted a bachelor’s degree holder $46,900, amounting to an annual difference of $11,180. It is not a certain thing because they estimate trade school will cost around $33,000 a year versus $127, 000. Going to trade school not just help saving money for tuition fee and make a good money, as well. Students, they know and focus to get their goals with their trade school is better than require them get longer public school or go to the college.
Some statistics show that if students have a higher education background or high-level of degree they will make a good money. In the reality, there are so many jobs do not require a college degree, for instance choreographer make $51,560 a year with high school education. In addition, costume attendants, painters, makeup artists, gaming managers, and athletes are some career do not need a college degree at all. It depends on the position people are looking for, skill and talent can help people get their job without their degree. Importantly, how do people can guarantee if go to school, student will have a good job. Overall, students should not be required to continue their public school through 2 years of community college or the first 2 years at a four-year university. Importantly, going to school is optional and voluntary is better than mandatory. Go to college is a choice to get more knowledge and experiences but it will be different for each person. Trade school can help them get their goals and have a better job. Forcing people go to higher education may lead to increase taxes and make them can afford student loans. In other words, they will enroll whenever they think they ready and necessary. By the way, the government should find the way to encourage students to go school instead of forcing people, such as how to get rich of a financial problem for students or create more scholarship and jobs opportunities, as well.
