Transcender User Guide Transcender is a vendor that provides self-check activities and practice exams so you can learn content and get ready to take the end-of-course certifications.

To open Transcender:

1. Choose the Practice Exams option from the Virtual Resource Portal home screen.

2. Click the green Go button. The following screen appears:

As shown above, each Transcender exam simulation has three components:

1. Optimize Exam Experience includes questions, answers, and detailed explanations, separated into major certification topic areas. Each experience is customizable depending on your study needs.

2. Preset Exam Experience has several exam options, with the same question count and time limitations as the real exam. These questions cover all certification topic areas.

• In order to earn your exam voucher, you must successfully complete the Random Exam option, meeting Capella’s qualification standards.

3. TranscenderFlash includes flashcards with questions on key concepts and terms, separated into major certification topic areas.

Explanations of each option follow.

Optimize Exam Experience This option provides self-check activities that can help you study information related to certification topic areas. This option allows you to customize the number, type, and topic area of questions so you can focus on the information most relevant to your needs and interests. An explanation of each customization option is provided below.

Please note that while you are free to enter information in more than one field, some combinations will not yield results if there are no questions that match the parameters selected.

1. Select your options:

• If you want to test yourself on all topic areas, choose the Randomly select . . . option and choose how many questions you would like to be asked.

• If you want to focus on specific topic areas, choose the Select from these exam objectives option and choose some or all of the questions on your topic or topics.

• If you have a preference between Single Answer Multiple Choice and Multiple Answer Multiple Choice, feel free to choose one option; however, for the widest breadth of questions we recommend you check both. Please note that most questions are not interactive.

• If you want to be tested on a specific topic within the larger topics, enter those keywords in the Select items containing these keywords fields.

• If you want to concentrate on just the questions you have been answering incorrectly, choose the Select the items I have answered incorrectly . . . option and enter a number between 1 and 10.

• If you want to review the items for which you entered notes, choose that option.

2. Click Start to take the practice exam. You may take it as often as needed, or set new parameters.

Preset Exam Experience Use this option to take a preset practice exam. Unlike the Optimize Exam Experience, questions in these exams are set by the vendor and have been selected from all certification topic areas. You may complete these practice exams as many times as needed. Please note that while you can opt to have the exam graded this does not count toward your course grade or your certification score.

• To practice, take the Preset Exams (A, B, C, etc.) as often as needed to master the

topic.

• Take the Random Exam to qualify for the certification voucher once you feel you are ready. Please note that you may take this exam more than once. For information on qualifying criteria please visit Capella’s IT Industry Certification page.

Click Start to begin an exam.

TranscenderFlash Use TranscenderFlash like you would old-fashioned flashcards.

1. Select your options:
