Naomi Klein describes a world of “fences” that are designed to keep people out and a world of “windows” where people demand to be let in. Zadie Smith writes about a “Dream City” where people “have no choice but to cross borders and speak in tongues” ((252). Consider the views in the two texts and answer the following: As the world becomes closer because of globalization, will people move in the direction of a more open “Dream City” or will people look to erect more “fences” to protect self-interest? Which choice seems more likely or more necessary---- and why ?
I will evaluate your paper by looking at:

1. Your use of textual evidence and protocols: Choose relevant quotations and examples to further your project. Incorporate key words into your paper by “close reading” quotations.
1. Your organization: Paragraphs should focus on one idea, build upon each other logically, and work toward the development of the total project. Think connectively. Each body paragraph should have a quotation from each writer.
1. Your sentence clarity and correctness: Proofread your essay for spelling and grammatical errors.
