For this assignment, you are going to find an example of a text that is in the same genre you want to work with for your Public Writing assignment. For this assignment you will: Review Easy Writer 9b-9d pages 63-65, which reviews things to consider when adapting genre and writing for the public. Find a sample text that is the same genre you plan to work with. For example, if you want to write an Editorial, find an Op-Ed or Editorial. If you want to write a more narrative essay, find a sample This I Believe essay. The same goes for a pamphlet or poster. Link or cite that text at the top of your response. Once you have found your sample text, read it over thinking about the techniques of Reading Like a Writer. Answer the following questions: Why did you choose this particular genre? How does the author of the text establish authority? How does the author create pathos? How does the author establish an argument? What do you think is the most effective part of this text? What techniques does the author use that you would like to use? Take one of those techniques and write at least a 1/2 page or design part of your text.
