1. we know there is -OH group in o- hydroxacetophenon. Then -OH group cause a lower melting point.
2. a. the solvent may have a high polarity. I may change a lower polarity solvent.
b. the solvent is lower polar, I should change a higher polarity solvent.

3. the o-toluic acid have more polar, then it will have a lower Rf, the naphthalene will have a higher Rf, and Fluorenol at middle Rf.
4. 4-decanone, xylene, and cycloheptane have a larger Rf value.

6. a, keep the spots not too big. The big spot will be blurry.

c. use pencils to mark the plate, because ink will dissolve in the solvent.
