We often have firmly held beliefs about why people think and behave the way they do. Sometimes our intuitions are correct, but often they are not. Social psychology helps us understand how people think about themselves and others and what motivates their behavior in social settings. As we watch what is going on around us today, the behavior of others may seem confusing, frustrating, and perplexing. In this assignment I would like you to apply some of the concepts from social psychology to our current events. This exercise will hopefully be cathartic and give you a deeper understanding of what is going on in the world today.

· Write a 2.5 - 3 pages essay

· Include citation

· Choose three concepts from social and/or sociocognitive psychology (i.e. groupthink, group polarization, deindividuation, in-group bias, obedience, conformity, fundamental attribution error, self-serving bias, actor-observer bias, locus of control, etc.).

· Write one to two paragraphs for each concept which include the following

· A description of the concept

· A discussion of why it occurs

· A description of a current event that illustrates that concept, along with details of how the concept helps explain the behavior.

· Thorough and thoughtful responses for each topic.
