You complete 45 hours in timetabled class hours and 15 hours structured online learning.

Extra time each week in eSpace to learn, practice and achieve your best results

Student can be studying in more depth in the way you prefer to learn. eSpace is the place to start. So put extra time into the readings and websites and practice skills to consolidate your subject knowledge and skills.

Students are expected to study for an additional 5 hours per week in eSpace to complete the activities and homework

When do you complete the assessments

Some assessments are started in class time.

The final assessments for the unit are provided by your trainer who will give you the due date in class.

Students will need to allocate extra hours outside of class time to complete the assessments.

Teaching Methods

Every unit is different so it is important to study this outline and listen to the introduction from the trainer. The topics and methods for learning then assessment will be explained at the start of the unit. Here is a summary of teaching and learning methods.

The trainer will lead the topics and guide your learning using lectures and extra resources such as power point slides that summarise key point. The trainer will teach using selected sections of the workbook and templates on eSpace

You will work through the topics in the learning activities and extra readings, handouts. You do these in class then in the extra 5 hours per week from eSpace

Discussion groups are an important part of learning. Some of the work you complete in this unit requires the group to talk about a topic, or give an opinion. This is guided discussion facilitated by your trainer.

Group activities are also an important part of learning. There are business case studies and scenarios and business and management simulations that you work on together as a group.

You will complete set activities in eSpace. You can use the College computers or your own laptop or mobile device.

Student support and tutorial support is available to all students on every Friday from 10am-4pm during the term. If any of the students are struggling or falling behind in their studies, they can use and attend this support where they could seek one-to-one trainer support. This is where they can get more individual learning support.

(These questions are theoretical and provide evidence of students’ understanding of the processes that impact on team effectiveness. Each question includes the requirements which indicate what students’ have to do and the depth of studentsresponse to achieve a satisfactory result.)

(Students will undertake a number of tasks associated with ensuring team work through the running of team meetings, initially to develop and facilitate team cohesion and then a second meeting to identify and resolve work performance for the Devonshire Perfect Coffee Bar.)

Time limits –each of the assessments will have a set time to complete that is explained and agreed before you start. There is timed assessment for practical that are completed in class.

Use of support material – the written work can refer to a textbook or notes but must be in your own

words. Tests are from memory so you cannot use your textbook or notes

Reasonable adjustment – if you think there are issues that could impact on your ability to perform then you need to talk to your trainer/assessor prior to doing the task

Re-assessments and re-sits - The student is informed that the assessment is not pass/fail in the marking guide above and that feedback is provided. The Assessor may set another time for the gap assessment or follow up extra practical assessment or with open questions if there is doubt about responses or demonstration of skills. Students should be successful at the second attempt. If a re-sit is necessary, the conduct of the task will depend on the type of assessment. Re-sits are more likely for written tests.

Appeals process – after the assessment, if you have concerns, then you should talk to your assessor. There is an assessment appeal policy and procedure that is followed.

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to lead teams in the workplace and to actively engage with the management of the organisation.

It applies to individuals working at a managerial level who facilitate work teams and build a positive culture within their work teams. At this level, work will normally be carried out using complex and diverse methods and procedures requiring the exercise of considerable discretion and judgement, using a range of problem solving and decision making strategies.
