ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY & SUMMARY Education is a broad and diverse field of study. You are asked to create an annotated bibliography of research that answers an educational-related question of your choice and explain its importance in a reflection piece. A good place to begin this process of exploring peer-reviewed papers related to your question is the Institute of Education Sciences website (http://eric.ed.gov) or other resources on UTM library resources. The following are the three components of your assignment.

1. Develop an education-related research question. All good research begins with a clearly crafted research question. This question should be concise (one sentence only), focussed (specific to a particular environment, community, phenomena) and seek to understand a causal relationship (between specific education-related variables). For example, you may wish to explore how class size in private schools affect test performance.

2. Create an annotated bibliography (~300 words an annotation): Annotated bibliographies provide an overview of research done on a particular topic. After reading through several research articles, select articles whose focus and findings differ from each other but are relevant to your research question. Your bibliography must consist of two peer-reviewed articles, published after 2005 by different authors in different journals. Both articles must explore different research questions that are relevant but not identical to your overall research question. None of the articles should be from our class reading list. Your bibliography must be properly formatted using APA formatting and include the DOI for each article (or a comparable link). Identify the limits of the study (sample selection, sizes, methodology etc.) and propose future research to address these limitations and/or expand on the research. Explain the relevance of each article to your overall research question.

3. Write a page reflection: In addition to your bibliography, you are asked to include a short reflection piece (about 200 words) that complements your annotated bibliography that explains why your larger research question merits study. You are asked to explain the importance and implication of all findings outlined in your annotated bibliography to a specific community or stakeholder group. Describe the practice(s) that are supported by the findings of the articles using specific example(s).
