“The levels of evidence that are evidently present in relation to practice and research include metal-analysis, systematic review, critically appraised topics and articles, randomized controlled trials, cohort study, case-control, background information, and animal research (“Evidence-based practice for health professionals: Levels of evidence,” n.d). I have, however, outlined these levels in their order of importance beginning with the most reliable to the least. In regard to the description, meta-analysis refers to a systematic appraisal, which prompts researchers to use quantitative methods when summarizing their results. A systematic review, on the other hand, is associated with an article whose author (s) systematically search, appraise, and then summarize the literature for a given topic (“Evidence-based practice toolkit,” n.d). Critically appraised topics are those whose significance and validity are thoroughly evaluated.

Randomized controlled trials, also abbreviated as RCTs, entail groups of subjects, such as patients, that are chosen arbitrarily whenever performing an experiment (“Evidence-based practice for health professionals: Levels of evidence,” n.d). A Cohort study involves identifying two groups of people, one that is interesting as opposed to the other, which subsequently facilitates the achievement of results using that which is considered important. Similarly, case-control study is deployed in a health care setting to identify patients that guarantee a particularly interesting outcome and others who do not when conducting research. Background information is another level that entails the use of textbooks, encyclopedias, and handbooks whenever in the process of introducing or evaluating the foundation of a given topic. Ultimately, the last level of evidence in animal research that is conducted in a laboratory when conducting diagnostic and therapeutic studies. According to the “Evidence-based practice toolkit” (n.d), it is important to consider the above levels of practice regardless of any method in use because they strengthen the validity and reliability of the end results.”
