Topic: Women deciding to have Abortions

Audience : People who are against the ability to decide for yourself as a women to have an abortion because they either do not agree or believe it is a sin

I. Introduction

A. Abortion has always been a topic people stress to talk about.

a) Sensitive topic to certain people of certain backgrounds.

B. Women who receive abortions do so for various reasons. They do this possibly because they cannot bring a child into the world or simply do not want to.

a) Jane Roe (Norma McCorvey)

b) Had an abortion because, did not want to risk her and baby”s life during pregnancy

C. The legalization of abortion has been a long fight, there are public situations regarding abortion that has allowed people to understand why women choose to get one.

II. Body *FYI: Letters do not equate to paragraphs! They are my points

A. Women getting abortions has been around for quite some time.

1. Roe v. Wade 1973 (Supreme Court)

2. Legal in 37% of the world.At least one abortion clinic in every state.

B. The real question is abortions such a contreversial topic if it has been around long enough to be accepted or at least tolerated.

1. First, the risk of getting an abortion.

a) There have been cases where women have gotten infections because the procedure was not sanitized.

b) The abortion could go wrong or not even been performed correctly

2. Second, people are religious and do not tlerate abortion becasue in the bible it is consdiered a sin

a) Because abortion is considered a sin in the bible many people do not accept or allow people within their communities to get one without being looked down upon

b) Only people who see it as only that miss the actual benefits this has upon women.

c) These benefits could be

(1) Help depression

(2) Prevent a high risk pregnancy

(3) Avoid bringing a child into a bad environment

(4) Avoid permanent outcomes (aka death)

d) Abortion helps when you dont want to bear a child at a young age because you were assaulted somehow.

3. Third, the act of an abortion has been used for decades and should now be normalized. Other people (laws) should not be able to decide for a woman what she should do for her body.

a) Pro-life movements, movements that want to stop abortions

b) Pro-Choice movements, movements that want to normalize and legalize abortion in all states and countries.

c) Pro-Life movements have being fighting for the criminalization of abortion for quite some time. Their have been protests and lawsuits over abortions.

4. Lastly, abortion is not a light subject. It is very touchy for many people for multiple different reasons. People who are against abortion have made valid arguments as to why this is not a good idea.

a) Abortion at a certain time of pregnancy is not wanted becasue the fetus is considered to be alive.

b) Abortion is not a crime, it can be helpful. By helpful it can save a woman from a risky pregnancy before something bad happens.
