Strategies to Shave Evidence
Policymaking is essential to population health, and nurses are particularly suited to take a prominent role in the formulation of nursing policy (Glazer & Clark, 2022). While lawmakers are professionals in crafting legislations, they frequently rely on technical experts to notify them of the changes, updates, and breakthroughs that drive the growth of policy. From hospital hallways to the corridors of Congress, nurses possess the expertise and understanding to campaign for their patients’ welfare and business (Glazer & Clark, 2022). The purpose of this discussion is to share strategies for bedside nurses to share evidence that will impact healthcare policy.
Educating Communities
One strategy nurses can use to influence healthcare policy is educating communities. At the local government level, there are opportunities for public discussion at town halls, city council sessions, school boards, and public health departments (DeSalvo & Parent, 2016). In addition to translating scientific material, nurses also assist in separating fact from fantasy. This was particularly the case during the pandemic. Nurses have been crucial in refuting myths and misconceptions about the Covid-19 virus and vaccines, as well as in raising awareness and providing clarification regarding public health measures such as mask use, hand washing, social isolation, and stay-at-home orders.
The second strategy nurses can use to influence healthcare policy is active involvement in policy-making processes. Nurses can identify policy areas in which they would like to have an impact and become active with nursing groups that provide information regarding policy-making participation. During the pandemic in particular, nurse groups have been essential in spreading awareness of supply chain issues, equipment scarcity, and the difficulties of making care decisions amid patient influx. In a number of elected positions, nurses can vie for public office and serve their communities (Glazer & Clark, 2022).

Conclusion
In conclusion, health policy, regulatory agencies, and accreditation are just a few of the external factors that influence decision making of nurse managers as illustrated by the interviewee. The nurse manager is therefore responsible for keeping up with the current changes in the healthcare system. In execution of their managerial duties, nurse managers must ensure that they fashion themselves with the dynamic changes in health policies in the healthcare system, ensure unit and institutional conformance to regulatory agency policies, and optimal utilization of financial resources.
