VALID, Inc.

Staff Organization Information

VALID, Inc. is a power (VA) lithium-ion device (LID) manufacturer of high-performance, lithium ion batteries for industrial, commercial, and consumer applications. Among other divisions, the following staff and teams were in place during the recent development and testing period of the lithium-ion battery.

Lithium-Ion Battery Development Division

Mr. Peter Q. Robin, MBA, headed this division as manager. You will now be stepping into this role. The division develops and extends advanced lithium-ion battery capacity and duration. It actively pursues chemical and electrical circuitry to tweak out more energy on a micro, nano scale. The division also develops storage forms that can contain the energy and dissipate the heat generated as the electrons flow creating electrical current to power devices. The storage forms need to be highly insulating from an electrical perspective, yet highly conductive and convective of the heat generated and released. The division has two major teams.

Lithium-Ion Electronics Team

Dr. Carolyn D. Energy, Ph.D. is the director of this research effort. She has three advanced engineering positions reporting to her in the areas of chemical engineering and electrical engineering. In addition, her team has four highly skilled technicians and one administrative assistant. One of her top engineers is on leave due to an extended sequestered jury engagement and is not expected to return for at least three months. Carolyn is actively trying to request additional support. The engineer on jury duty is still on her budget and that is limiting her resources.

Lithium-Ion Mechanical and Materials Design Team

Dr. Harold I. Janu, Ph.D., P.E., is the director of this research effort. His team includes two advanced materials science engineers working on developing more thermally and electrically resistant materials sheeting with extended ranges of thermal application. In addition, there are two mechanical engineers on this team--one skilled in thermal design configurations having extensive micro-electronics heat sink experiences. The other is a numerical simulations expert and CAD (computer-aided design) developer. Three design technicians work continuously developing enclosures that are aesthetically attractive and functionally solid.

Marketing and Communications Division:

Ms. Margaret N. Overtop, MBA, heads this division. The Division of Marketing and Communications works with the divisions of VALID to provide clear singular messaging to the public and B2B (business-to-business) relations. The messages sent by this department are to be visually aesthetic, intellectually compelling, and rock-solid reliable instilling pride and confidence in VALID and its products. Margaret’s team has five associate managers assigned to the following departments: public relations, B2B communications, marketing and communications, web design, and digital communications. Each department has approximately three staff writers and developers.

The Division of Finance & Operations

Mr. David L. Richie, MBA, heads this division. This division is responsible for managing the financial, physical, and technological resources of VALID. The division has responsibilities for budget and planning; financial accounting and reporting; financial services; facilities operations; planning, design, and construction of capital projects; debt management; and compliance and risk management. This division has seven associate managers assigned to the following departments: budget & planning, compliance & risk management, environmental & occupational safety, facilities, financial services, IT infrastructure, and procurement.
