Directions

Your group has been put together by the company, to develop a market research report into a state in the US. In order to get the approval of your management team, regarding the markets you have been assigned, you have to do some background research, and justify the spending of their money on the research project.

Your group will be required to develop a market research proposal, and prepare a 5 slide powerpoint slide – details in Appendix 2 . This proposal shall outline the methodology of research, the sample sizes, and purpose statement, the goals, and expectations of the research outcomes. In addition, a budget and a timeline must be proposed. You will need to present it with a critical path.

Remember: This is not a strategic paper – it is looking for approval to conduct research. This proposal will also act as a roadmap for your research, which means that you will be able to utilize it during the execution of your market research and report.

Management Decision Problem: As a newly created brand entering into a somewhat crowded but growing plant based industry, how do we stand out and and how do we gain access to the consumers seeking these products. Founders have 25+ years of food productions and distribution experience, so R&D is their specialty. Expansion across Canada into major grocery chains, as well as US distribution is key to gaining market share area.

Research Problem: Assess the Plant based / Alternative Meat category for growth opportunities and where to focus our time and resources.
