First off I will start off by saying that initially it was entirely ethical in every sense to conduct this experiment. What I didn't catch was if the students that participated in the experiment as the prisoners knew all the power that was being given to the students that were made to be the guards. This is really the only thing I have an issue with to be completely honest. To me even if they did know how much the guards could really do I still don't really think it wasn't ethical because at the end of the day these students volunteered to do this experiment. Did they really think that to accurately portray a prison situation that it would be easy? They had to know they were going to deal with some type of hardship.

This proves that with a good amount of people it doesn't matter who you are as much as it matters about the situation you are put in. I am sure not all of the abusive guards before the experiment you could line them up and point them out. They became a creature of their environment. I think the power they were given went straight to their head and they were more or less enabled to do these cruel acts to the prisoners. If the experiment was done differently then I figure the behavior would change drastically. I figure the less power and influence you give the guards the less violent and sadistic they become. Same with the prisoners, the more confidence you give them and the more they remember they are all equals and this isn't real the less allowing they are to these abusive tendencies. Now this to me would corrupt and not give you a better understanding of the experiment and how it is to be a guard or prisoner, but it probably wouldn't turn out to be how it ended the first time.
