The aim of this assignment is to enhance your skills as regards to choosing a research topic and

composing a reference list consisting of relevant scholarly sources.

Objective 1

Students will be able to identify acceptable academic sources while conducting online research.

Objective 2

Students will develop the ability to distinguish between scholarly and popular sources.

Objective 3

Students will learn how to format the references of a paper properly.

Worth: 15% of your overall grade.

Requirements

 Typed in an electronic format (Word or PDF document)

 Uploaded to the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)

 Document’s name should be your student number, name and the Assignment Name.

 Cover Page (including Course Name, Your Name and Student ID Number, Title of your work,

Tutor’s Name, Date)

Instructions:

1. choose a research topic of your interest and include it in

your assignment.

2. conduct research to find credible sources relating to your

topic of interest.

3. compose a reference list consisting of at least four credible

sources and formatted based on the correct referencing

style for your studies.

***You should not include any text (i.e. paragraph or essay)

accompanying your Reference List.

Research Topic

• The research topic is provided.

• All references are relevant to the research topic.

Reseach Topic (15%)

• There is usage of at least one scholarly article and a book.

• At least one recent (last four years) publication is included.

Type and Credibility of Sources (25%)

• There is usage of at least four (4) credible sources.

• The appropriate referencing style is applied.

• The reference entries are in alphabetical order.

• The reference entries are complete, i.e. there is no important information missing.

• The presentation of the references is correct (font type, font size, line spacing).
