Restaurant Review

Noble, in Southington Connecticut is the best hibachi restaurant in the state and is a great experience for anyone who wants good food and a show. Once you walk into Noble you are transported into a serene Asian environment. A beautiful fountain filled with fish greets you at the door as you walk in followed by the illumination of the sake bar. The amazing smell of freshly prepared food makes your mouth water as you wait to be seated. The hibachi tables are alive with action before you even sit down as chefs flip their spatulas, light fires, toss food, and even pour sake into the mouths of patrons as the rest of the table chants the seconds. The experience of a hibachi restaurant is all about presentation and there is no better than Noble.

As you sit down at your designated hibachi grill you begin by ordering drinks, along with the normal variations of non-alcoholic beverages there are also selections of Japanese sodas that are extremely popular with children. The alcoholic drinks are also amazing, especially the scorpion bowl that can be shared or if your not driving it can be taken down by yourself. The scorpion bowl is a mix of fruit punch and vodka in a large Asian decorative bowl with a flaming shot of Bacardi 151 in the center. It is a delicious mix drink that may unknowingly sneak up on you since you can barely taste the immense amount of alcohol present in the bowl. After the drinks come you are immediately given appetizers of a salad with Japanese dressing and mushroom soup both of which will settle the hunger many feel when waiting on dinner.  Many hibachi restaurants do not provide these appetizers unless they are paid for separately from the hibachi dinner, but Noble keeps it all included. It is this type of service that keeps Noble at the top of the list for best hibachi restaurants.

As the chef rolls out the cart of raw food to the hibachi table you are less concerned with the food since you had a light appetizer and you are able to enjoy the entertainment provided by the chef. He begins by showing off his skills of spatula tossing and the table applauds as he finishes with an amazing fireball caused by the cooking oil poured on the grill. If you have kids then you do not have to worry about them being disruptive at dinner since they will be in mesmerized by the action taking place. The show is not over yet as the chef prepares the fried rice, he takes the eggs and throws them in the air doing different tricks.  Once the tricks are over he breaks the eggs and begins the cooking process. He cooks the noodles and rice first so that people will have something to pick at as they wait for their main course to be prepared. Like the salad and soup, many hibachi restaurants do not include noodles and rice in the hibachi dinner and you are forced to choose one or the other but not at Noble. Both noodles and rice are included in the dinner and does not create any further expense on the bill. Noble’s ability to give more and remain at a reasonable price is definitely a huge plus in my book. The main course is then put on the grill whether it is steak, chicken, shrimp, scallops, lobster, or vegetarian and it is all fresh and appetizing. Along with the main course you are also given some shrimp at the expense of the restaurant, their ability to give their patrons the most for their money truly makes people want to come back and back again. The food is accompanied by two delicious sauces that you can dip your food into and they are also the best compared to many other hibachi restaurants. The yellow sauce is the key to my stomach and is able to make each bite taste even better. Other hibachi restaurants attempt to use such great sauces but are unable to recreate the magic that Noble has found. The show is still not over as dinner comes to a close. The chef cuts up small pieces of chicken and goes around the table tossing the food into their mouths as the guests laugh and cheer. He then goes around the table to all the adults and asks if they want to get sake poured into their mouths. It becomes a game as the table counts the number of seconds each person can stand having the sake poured into their mouths. The whole experience is a great time and should be enjoyed by any who walk through the door.
