Search through current (within last 10 years) news media and find an example of a security breach related to health information (see the example from the Learning Activities). Summarize what happened, including the basic interrogatives (who, what, when, where, why, how). Include the severity of the compromised data (i.e., how many patient records involved?). How did the security breach occur? Could it have been prevented by taking additional security measures? If so, what could have or should have been done? Be sure to reference whether the basic provisions of HIPAA’s security standard appear to have been followed or violated.
