week 6 Discussion and responds 250-300 word
DISCUSSION 1
· From the e-Activity, discuss the best possible pricing strategy based on whether the company you selected is a retailer, manufacturer, or service firm. Explain your rationale.
· Discuss the best possible way the company you selected could expand its market globally.
RESPOND
The company I chose to use for the majority of our examples and discussions is my current employer which is an electrical contracting company. Our company is privately owned company that caters specifically to the south eastern region of the U.S. We still have plenty of competition amongst many other electrical contracting companies. The beauty of our industry is the pricing. We are a union employed company and also a member of "N.E.C.A." which stands for the National Electrical Contractor Association. The benefit in being a part of these organizations is that we constantly have a pool of rotating employees looking for work via the local union. Another benefit is that all the other contracting groups that are a part of the NECA all agree on the sale price to pay our electricians for work. We have a specific manual that gives an estimated time to complete a certain line of work and how much it will cost. It also gives us the price of labor. So, when it comes to estimating the cost of a contract, we can accurately count up the cost of labor, material, and man hours. Everything has a set price, the only factor that alters the price is the number of electricians and the speed at which a job is completed.
DISCUSSION 2
- From the e-Activity, discuss how the company you selected might benefit from selling to new customers on e-Bay (as opposed to building and maintaining its own Website).
- Referring to the same company, determine the best source of equity capital available to the company you selected. Explain your rationale.
RESPOND
Unfortunately, my company is an electrical contracting company so our specialties are through physical labor. In regards to a company that sells a product or goods, "e-Bay" could be beneficial depending on the product being sold. The idea of "e-Bay" is genius when it comes to limited amounts of products. The fact that you can bid on products almost makes the purchasing process a game. Another benefit could be related to the seller or the buyer depending on how much the product finally sells for. There is always a starting bid price but during the bidding process the seller can end up making more money through the competition of the bidders, or the winner of the bidding can receive the product for cheaper than market cost.
DISCUSSION 3
- Select two (2) paintings depicting females by both a male artist and female artist named within the Explore section. Compare and contrast these two (2) depictions of women, and comment on any general tendencies that you detect among artists of that era in this respect. Compare this situation in the late 1800s to the way females are depicted in our own modern times, using at least one (1) specific modern example.
RESPOND
Being celebrated as an accomplished Russian composer during the Romantic era, Pyotr Tchaikovsky echoed nationalistic sentiments for his beloved native land which endeared him to many listeners all over the world. His music evoked strong emotion and his technical rendition and work regimen help established his continued appeal and popularity. Likewise noticeable in his musical composition was the turmoil that he experienced during his youth where he had to contend with challenges and his artistic proclivity became his outlet and solace. Accordingly, it was Mozart’s Don Giovanni, which inspired him to pursue music and made it his career for good. Since he was a precocious child, Tchaikovsky learned music at a tender age that after he received an initial instruction from his teacher, the level of skills was at par with his tutor. Much as been said about Tchaikovsky’s sexuality and while some of his deviant behaviors could not be condoned, music provided the imperative diversion. Whatever mental and emotional strain had been caused by his sexuality, it appears that it may have even enkindled his musical creativity. As a composer, Tchaikovsky made sure that his hidden feelings are felt by his own listeners. To the extent that there was a time when Tchaikovsky’s music was disdained because of his personal travails, in what way was he able to redeem himself that he eventually became a cult of personality among the growing young intelligentsia in Russia?
