Week 5 response

Guided Response: Respond to at least two peers. In your responses, ask a question about the 21st Century Professional Development framework with regard to professional learning communities and offer an additional resource for consideration that supports an alternative viewpoint. Though two replies is the basic expectation, for deeper engagement and learning, you are encouraged to provide responses to any comments or questions others have given to you, including the instructor. Technology has become today’s most common source used with everything. At one point, the only people to use technology were the educators and board members. It is amazing how more motivated and determined the students have become about learning when technology was added to the schools, classrooms and curriculum. Some educators were against having computers put in each classroom because they say the computers would be a huge distraction from the students learning. My opinion is with computers in each classroom would bring great advantages such as less students roaming the halls, quieter settings, more security in the classroom because you can actually monitor the students on the computers in the classrooms and it increases the students engagement as well as enthusiasm to want to learn.

Creating a professional learning community is a great way to increase the way educators increase the skills of the 21st Century Skills integration, tools, and teaching strategies by incorporating a more creative and interesting method classroom practice. The professional learning helps educators to understand the classroom is about the students and their educational growth.

Technology in the 21st Century is constantly evolving everyday. It’s something that people use in their everyday lives from talking on the phone to watching a television set. It’s everywhere in the education sector. When it comes to making certain decisions in education, it can be a bit nerve wrecking. Educators often ask, implementing technology in every lesson plans will it change the way students learn the information in a different manner. I believe it’s how we use the technology will explain if the students are learning.  Technology gives students access to other information that can be very useful outside of using a textbook to learn the concept. Technology constantly changes to the point where learning has been taken to a new level where it closes those small gaps when keeping students engagement. Teachers are always trying to come up with creative ways to ensure the students are paying attention. Technology simply adds more fun to the lessons where students are also able to work with there classmates on different assignments with the help of technology.

Another reason for technology integration is the necessity of today's students to have 21st century skills.

These 21st century skills include

    personal and social responsibility

planning, critical thinking, reasoning, and creativity

strong communication skills, both for interpersonal and presentation needs

    cross-cultural understanding

    visualizing and decision making

knowing how and when to use technology and choosing the most appropriate tool for the task
