Psychologists take an oath, as do doctors, attorneys, and priests, to protect their clients and maintain their confidentiality. What can a psychologist do when clients disclose disturbing information as opposed to harmful information?  



What are the various sides to this issue? Provide support for each side. 



Should he or she protect the patient and maintain confidentiality or share the information for the good of the larger population? Explain your answer.
