One of the issues I was interested in from this chapter is free software and the concept of copy left.  Here is a description of it: "Under copyleft, the developer copyrights the program and releases it under an agreement that allows people to use, modify, and distribute it, or any program developed from it, but only if they apply the same agreement to the new work" (p.212).  

I was reading a book recently about Wall Street crooked traders called Flash Boys.  One of the interesting items in the book showed how the technologists from banks who created high frequency trading programs that ripped off ordinary investors were using free software, modifying it, and then declaring it proprietary, thus violating copy left (and copyright).
