"Resistance to Change" Please respond to the following:

• Read the article titled “The Role of Corporate Communication and Perception of Justice during Organizational Change Process”. Next, analyze the relationship between communication and resistance. Evaluate the major consequences of poor communication.

Effective communication is essential to ensuring that organizational change goes smoothly. Keeping employees informed as to the reason why, company’s position and what to expect will mitigate confusion for the employee and sends a message that the organization is being transparent. According to the article, management must recognize that communication is a strategic issue and should play an important part in delivering company objectives.

Poor quality or lack of communication will result in a high resistance to change and negative attitudes from employees. In addition, bad communication will alter the perception of justice and impact attrition, performance and attendance. Employees not informed will resist change initiatives and the organization will ultimately fail in their change management attempt. Since the establishment of Forbes magazine, only 39 companies remain intact from their original Top 100 Companies list. This sends a message that change is essential, not changing is fatal.
