Affirmative Action
Now that you have reviewed some of the history of thought, public policy and employment law as it relates to diversity, evaluate the utility of companies having affirmative action plans. In what way might an affirmative plan differ from a diversity plan? Be sure to back your response with support from our reading material. Respond to at least two of your classmates’ postings no later than Day 7.

Week 2 Discussion 2
Employee and Employer Rights
Both the legal mandates and the demographic shifts offered the rationale for business to focus on the dynamic of diverse people in the workplace. That is, in concert with legislative mandates, the variety of employees began to impact the current work policies, practices and procedures in organizations. Employees and employers were soon ascribed rights and responsibilities under current law as related to equal employment opportunity and employee relations. Analyze one overt and one covert practice, policy or procedure that you believe would impede an individual’s development in an organization. Be sure to clearly illustrate your line of reasoning. Respond to at least two of your classmates’ postings no later than Day 7.
