Identify Effective Leadership Styles for Project Managers.

Identifying your personal leadership style may give you new insights into your strengths and weaknesses when assuming a leadership role as project manager and will help you increase your self-awareness. There are many leadership models and theories available, one of which is Galford and Maruca’s (2006) six leadership legacy categories. You will use this tool to assess your own leadership style and discuss how it may affect your job as project manager.

Choose a particular project with which you are familiar. If you are not the current manager of that project, pretend you have just been promoted into the project manager position.

Based on your self-assessment and readings, write an analysis in which you address the following:

• Briefly describe your project, its main goals, and key stakeholders
• Outline the most important leadership challenges facing your project today
• Analyze how your leadership style positively affects your job as project manager, given the above challenges
• Discuss how your leadership style may pose hinder your effectiveness in your job as project manager, given the above challenges
• Determine and describe the three most important leadership skills project managers must master to succeed in today’s business environment. Illustrate your chosen skills with examples
• Discuss how you plan to improve those skills, given your current leadership style and project management experience.
  
  

Support your paper with a minimum of three (3) external resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources, including older articles, may be included.
